The Story
Growing seedlings is always a matter of chance. It’s impossible to know what you might come across, but I’ve always followed my gut when holding onto a seedling. This one almost didn’t make “the cut,” but every year the bloom has gotten better and better.
One fall morning, I was staring at the bloom when I heard the words, “My mercy is made new for you every day.” It immediately reminded me of the scripture in Lamentations 3,
“The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” — Lamentations 3:22–23, NLT
Knowing a scripture is one thing; learning to live in its truth is another. Now, every time I see this bloom, I’m reminded that when my feet hit the ground each morning, new life and new mercy are already waiting. Before my eyes open, the invitation to begin again is there—like a gift. All I have to do is receive it and unwrap it. If you need a reset, forgiveness, or light to reach your innermost being, some days it might be as simple as sitting with your palms open and accepting the gift God has waiting for you—deep breath in, deep breath out.
I believe the Father, Son, and Spirit are always ready to release love and mercy into our midst. I’ve experienced this more times than I can count—both in deep need and in profound gratitude.
And so Morning Mercy became a living sunrise and a reminder that I am seen, known, and cared for. Each day is made new, full of potential and possibility. This dahlia carries that promise in color and character: peachy-pink into soft yellow, fresh blooms day after day, long dependable stems, and a tone that whispers hope in borders and bouquets alike.
